Xander had his first birthday a month ago. (Yeah, I know, I'm still behind. I wish I had a good excuse. Maybe life with four small children is enough excuse...?) Here's some of my favorite pictures. You'll notice below a picture of the cake itself. I was adamantly against taking a picture of it, but Kelly was insistent. You see, I've gotten ever lazier in my approach to birthdays. In fact, I almost did no cake at all for Xander's birthday. After all, he'll never remember it, right? But then I thought of the days when he will look back at his baby pictures and feel neglected because he never had a first birthday. So I made one, but I wasn't about to go to the trouble of making frosting as well, so I used what I had in my fridge. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough of one color to do the whole cake... Voila! an ugly two tone cake. Enjoy.
