We must have leaders to help us now and in the future. More to the point, we must have leaders who are moored in morally safe harbors. We need leaders who are like Washington, Jefferson, Locke and Gandhi. Where do we get those leaders? We rear them in our families and teach them in our schools. But how do we do that? How did those great men become great? There is an incredible book I've read that deals with these exact questions. It is entitled A Thomas Jefferson Education: Teaching a Generation of Leaders for the 21st Century, by Oliver Van DeMille.
Whether you choose to send your children to public, private, charter, or homeschool, this book gives guidelines on how to prepare your children to be the leaders of tomorrow. It is a fabulous discussion of why our schools fail us and how we as parents can step in to complete our children's education. It is uplifting, inspiring, and instructional. I highly recommend it. For those of you who live close to me, there is a copy in the Lehi library and I have a copy I will loan out. For those of you further away, I hope your library has a copy and if not, you might consider buying it. I truly think it is worth the money.
Here's hoping, praying, and doing all that I can to create a better United States for my children to inherit,
Melody
